Worlds Away From It All, Next Door To Manhattan
The Community
Bordering beautiful Long Island sound, the waterfront Town of Mamaroneck is comprised
of the Village of Larchmont, the Village of Mamaroneck (which also lies partly in
the town of Rye) and an unincorporated area. Occupying 12.5 square miles,
with a totoal population of 52,670, these picturesque waterside communities have been
attracting residents since 1661. Centuries of building have left the Town a charming
legacy: many vintage homes in a pleasing diversity of architectural styles,
an appealing flavor of New England amid tree lined steets. The salt-water
shore of the Sound adds outstanding natural beauty and the many diversions of waterside
life to these highly desirable communities.
Educational and Cultural Facilities
Considered among the finest in Westchester County, the Town is served by the Mamaroneck
Union Free School District which consists of four Elementary Schools,
one Middle School and one High School. Eastern Mamaroneck, in the Town of Rye,
is served by the Rye Neck School District's two Elementary Schools, Middle School
and High School. Excellent private and Parochial schools are also available.
The famous Emelin Theater is still a cultural mecca, bringing concerts, dramas,
musicals and films to this former summer retreat of artists and the elite.
Recreational Facilities
For salt-water devotees, yachting and boating facilities are readily available,
as are swimming, tennis, golf, hiking and many year-round programs. Numerous public
parks tucked into the Town are alive with the joyous laughter of children.
Larchmont is know as a strolling town, whose specialty shops fill many needs.
Nearby, The Westchester Mall, with anchor stores Neimand Marcus and Nordstrom, offer
world class shopping.
Transportation
Only 25 miles from Manhattan, commutation is simple and swift, by virtue of a 32 minute
train trip on Metro-North. Interstate Route 95 and the Hutchinson River Parkway provide
easy access to Westchester's extensive highway network.
